What is the Veriff component?
With the Veriff component signees authenticate themselves using government-issued identification matched with AI-powered facial recognition. The Veriff component is suitable for workflows that require enhanced KYC, such as when transactions carry considerable risk or involve a large amount of funds and can be used in SmartFlow with any kind of signature type. It is also suitable when the company needs to collect a copy of the signees ID.
The Veriff component supports over 11.000 different forms of identification documents issued by governments in over 230 countries.
Enabling the Veriff component
The Veriff component is currently only visible to a subset of users. If you wish to use the Veriff component, but don't see the option in your SmartFlow, please contact help@taktikal.com and we'll be happy to configure that for you.
Configuring the Veriff component
To add the Veriff component to a SmartFlow, open the SmartFlow and click the "+ Veriff" button in the SmartFlow
In the module you can choose to use the default title and description or write your own.
The default text looks like this:
If you choose to configure your own title and description you can do that by clicking "Use custom verification text" and adding a Title and Subtitle.
The process with the Veriff component
- Forms answered
The signee receives an email with a link to start the document signing process and fills in any forms that are present in the SmartFlow. - The signee starts the Verification process
A user-friendly interface guides the user through the authentication process step-by-step and lets them know what data they need to have on hand. - Signee uploads their ID
If the signee starts a signing process using a desktop computer, they are prompted with a QR code to use their mobile phone to complete the identity verification. The signee then takes a photo of their identification using their mobile phone. The ID is authenticated to ensure its legitimacy. - Signee uploads a selfie
The signee takes a photo of themselves in real time. Artificial intelligence verifies that the person in the selfie is the same as the person on the government-issued ID. - ID verified
The ID and selfie are compared by artificial intelligence and fraud checks are carried out. The name on the ID is compared to the name of the signee. If all checks out the authentication is verified and the signee proceeds to step 5. If the authentication is denied, the signee will be shown an error message indicating the reason for denial and given 2 more attempts to authenticate. If the authentication fails for the third time, the signee is unable to proceed to the signing step. For more information about denied authentication see here. - Document is signed
The signee is presented with the document and continues to the signature step of the process - Signed document is delivered
The signed document is delivered along with an evidence page and the information used to verify the signee’s identity, e.g. the ID photo and selfie submitted during the signing process.
Evidence page
Each signing process that utilises the Veriff component in the process, is accompanied with an evidence page. The evidence page includes information about all steps taken in the process including:
- the creation of the signing process,
- the delivery of the signing process to the signee,
- when the signee looked at the process/document
- the authentication process
- the signature process
- the delivery of documents
The evidence page includes attributes such as:
- Timing
- IP numbers
- Email addresses
- Details from the signees ID such as:
- Name
- ID number
- ID type
- Date of birth
After everyone has signed the document, the evidence page is delivered to the sender of the process or default delivery method of the customer, but not to the signee of the process.
Security measures of the Veriff component
The signee name is passed on to the authentication service to help ensure only the intended recipient can authenticate. Furthermore images of the signee and the signee's ID document are collected and fraud checks are performed.
