What are Danish MitID Signatures?
Danish MitID signatures allow signees to sign documents electronically using Denmark's national digital identity system, MitID.

The Signing Process with Danish MitID Signatures
The signing process consists of three steps:
1. Document sent for signing digitally
The signee receives an email containing a link to begin the signing process.
2. Document is signed
The signee is directed to MitID to verify their identity. The MitID app shows a short reference text describing what is being signed, and the signee approves.
3. Signed document is delivered
Once the signing process is complete, the signed document is delivered to the sender. It can also be delivered directly to the sender's document management system and to the signee.
The signing process usually takes less than a minute.
Security Measures of Danish MitID Signatures
Danish MitID signatures use several security measures to verify the signee's identity and protect the signed document.
Identity verification: Signees are authenticated through Denmark's national identity system, ensuring that only the intended signee can sign the document.
Document privacy: The document remains within Taktikal during signing. Only a short reference text is sent to MitID, which returns confirmation of the signee's identity. MitID does not share the signee's Danish personal identity number (CPR number), and Taktikal does not collect or store CPR numbers during the signing process.
Certified TSA timestamp: A certified TSA timestamp ensures that the signing time meets eIDAS guidelines and the document is suitable for long-term preservation.
Electronic seal: The signed document is electronically sealed using the PAdES format, which supports long-term validation. Any changes made to the document after signing invalidate the seal.
Validation evidence is embedded at the time of signing, allowing the signature to be verified even after the underlying certificates have expired.
Signature Evidence
The electronic seal contains signature evidence from MitID, including:
The signee's full name, as registered in MitID.
The signee's country.
The time of signing.
The signed identity token from the MitID session, which allows recipients to independently verify the MitID signature.
The signee's name is recorded as it appears in MitID at the time of signing. A subsequent name change does not affect the validity of the signature.
Evidence Page
Each signing process that utilises Danish MitID for one or more signatures in the process, is accompanied with an evidence page. The evidence page includes information about all steps taken in the process including:
- The creation of the signing process,
- The delivery of the signing process to the signee,
- When the signee looked at the process/document
- The authentication process
- The signature process
- The delivery of documents
The evidence page includes attributes such as:
- Timing
- IP numbers
- Email addresses
- Phone numbers
- Details from the signees ID such as:
- Name
- ID number
- ID type
- Date of birth
After everyone has signed the document, the evidence page is delivered to the sender of the process or default delivery method of the customer, but not to the signee of the process.
